a ghost is in the barnyard, a bird is in his mouth
the bird is softly singing, "i want to be in the south"
i'm here in this barnyard trying to coax this swine out
all he does is laugh in mud n crinkle up his snout
pigs don't have wings, but they fly into my heart
pull the blanket over the owl, a rodent sleeps in the dishtowel
put sheep to bed, and sheer some wool
scream to the oxen, "pull! pull! pull!"
get on this barnyard going before i lose my mind
a ghost into the hen house, his bones we'll never find
